The first fund raising project.

After considerable thought, I have decided to raise funds to pay for the costs of looking after my gran at St Mary’s Hospice in Birmingham, UK.
Even though the hospice is a charitable cause and does not expect any funds from my gran or the family, I thought it would be very inconsiderate indeed if a donation was not made for their support to date and any in the future.
We, as a family (including my gran) can only afford to pay a modest financial donation, but I believe what they have given to my gran (and the family), since the consultants at the hospital discharged my gran in mid 2005 surpasses any figure that I could think of. Basically, I believe that my gran would not be alive today if it were not for St Mary’s Hospice.
In addition, after reading that they only get 36% of their funding from the NHS, with the remainder having to be raised themselves, I cannot believe how their care (medical, nursing and social) exceeds that of the NHS. If I had anything to do with it, then I would use St Mary’s Hospice as a model and consultancy to develop the National Health Service.
Anyway, I now simply need to develop the Set Forever concept further to start raising funds and also approach St Mary’s Hospice with what I want to do.
I’ll update you as soon as I can.
