I read an article on a web page this morning which a friend sent me a link to and I could not relate to it at all.

The article of the title is “Interactive Charting – the next evolution in Business Intelligence” and is about easy to use interfaces being the key to understanding business data.

My intial emotional thought was “Errr… Yes! What’s New?”

How Do I Get Work and How Do I Work?!

I had a call from Yell.com this morning asking me what I do and if I wanted to advertise on Yell.com.

I tried to get across that I develop bespoke (customised) solutions for customers and don’t really sell off-the-shelf packaged software, and that my experience of advertising in directories under sections like “Internet Services” and “Web Site Design” has not been great.

What is very impressive about Bharat is his ability to draw on his extensive large scale systems development experience and incorporate those skills to give advice with regard to designing a simple start up web site. People who call you names (behind your back).

This matter has been bugging me for days now but I never found the time to “get it out”.

I went see a prospective new client through an agent (of sorts). The meeting went well and I said that I would have to go back and think about what was discussed and put together a quote. After doing the quote, I spoke to the agent and he asked me to deal with the client directly. So, I called up the client and discussed the project and he seemed OK about everything until it came to payment terms. My usual policy is to request 50% of my fee in advance and 50% on completion and and aptly in this case as the client had only set-up a few months ago.

Get a Free Email Address.

I have been re-developing Yupea.co.uk with an automated system to get a free email address.

The site uses my version of the well known AJAX (Advanced Javascript And XML) but I call it AJAP (Advanced Javascript And PHP), or I could even call it AJAPAM (Advanced Javascript And PHP AND MySQL) as the system works with a MySQL database.
