A Promise Is NOT A Promise Until It’s Delivered.
Monday, September 3rd, 2007Even though I’ve been trying to make a living over the past few years, I have also been trying to fulfill a promise that I made and that’s why I have not been as busy with usual work as I would like to have been.
My grand dad passed away about a year ago and his last few years very very tough for him and the rest of the family. He was a proud man because he wanted and could do what he felt was right. People listened to him. His last few years were tough with medical conditions but I know that the toughest thing for him to accept was his arthritus.
He could quite easily ignore all his other medical problems but as his arthritus stopped him from getting to where he wanted to go to do what he needed to do, he started feeling down. I think that’s when he realised that he had to let go and let others carry on.
Anyway, I think when he realised that life for him could soon come to an end he had a quite word with me when we were alone.
He said to me… “If something happens to me, (you have to) look after gran (his wife)”… and that’s what I have been trying to do with all other things that life has thrown at me since.
I made a promise to my grand dad and a promise is not a promise until it’s delivered. Even though I have and may still upset people to keep my promise, I am trying my hardest to stick to my word and manage everything else in life.
With lessons learned to date and the rewards of looking after my grandparents, I hope my Set Forever idea works to help sustain me, my family and others whome I may be able to help in the future.
