You Control Your Own Business, Not Your Suppliers.

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

A new client of mine sent me an email with respect to making a payment for some work that I did for them.

My client told me that they had difficulty in convincing their accountant that they had to pay for my work.

The first thing that came to my mind, is “Who is running your company? You or your accountant?”.

Then my client stated that “I was able to push for the payment simply because I had initially agreed it.”

Then what came to my mind, is the thought why you would have to push a payment if you (the boss/owner) had initally agreed to pay it.

My Client: “If the truth be known I had difficulty trying to convince our accountant that we had to pay you for studying a programme before we could teach our staff how to use it.

I was able to push for the payment simply because I had initially agreed it verbally with you so I agreed to pay the remainder of the invoice out of my own pocket as our accountant cannot justify the cost for you learning something.”

Again, I say: Who runs your business, you or someone else!
