Acquiring Low Cost Spectacles (Glasses) and Lenses
On many occasions when we go to India, we get our spectacles and lenses made at our favourite opticians.
We pay very little compared to the price we paid in the U.K. which was admittedly a few years ago.
The workmanship isn’t as great as the U.K. but the spectacles and lenses are good but more importantly they WORK which is more important and even if the spectacles break or we simply desire a new pair for whatever reason, it still works out cheaper than getting new spectacles and lenses in the U.K.
Now, my mother’s spectacle frame has broken and we’re all in the U.K., so I’m going to test acquiring a replacement frame for the existing bi-focal lenses or get a new frame and new bi-focal lenses.
So, I’ve written a covering letter and enclosed the broken spectacles and put them into a jiffy bag to send to India, which I will do on Monday.
I assume it will take about 3 weeks to get the new pair of spectacles back due it taking about 5 days for post to get to and from India from the U.K. This may seem like a long delay, but I remember not too many years back waiting such periods in the UK and paying quite a lot for the product.
This could be good business opportunity for me in providing low cost spectacles and lenses in the U.K., or for someone else already in the spectacles industry who wants to provide low cost products to people who need glasses.
The parcel goes out on Monday, as I just went to post it but the post office was closed.
I’ll keep you in touch of progress.
