Interpretations of Namaste

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

One of my builders in India said “Namaste” to me whilst I was overseeing the building work on some homes, and this was the first time I have experienced anyone say this word to me.

I was a bit caught out at the moment as I did know know what the word meant, but as I could feel that the person said the word to me quite genuinely, all I could do is say “Namaste” back to him.

I forgot about this experience but after many weeks (perhaps months) the word came into my head a few times and I eventually looked up the definition, and to date have seen many definitions of the word, but now I believe that words cannot describe the true essence of “Namaste”.

I recently watched the movie “Avatar” (2009) and within it saw a great and meaningful interpretation of the word “Namaste” and also how limiting beliefs and conditioning can create a total opposite and negative interpretation of situations and people when the “quality” of “Namaste” exists.

Watch Avatar and if you understand what I’m talking about, you will know the words that are used in the movie which, for me, point to “Namaste”.

If you understand what I say or have your own experiences of “Namaste” then please use the comments section below to share your experiences.
