Colours of Front and Back of HomesMonday, January 4th, 2010I’ve decided on the colours for the front and back of the homes that I am building in India. I’ve used the colours that I am using on the interior of the house. For those of you in the UK, the colours may seem quite strong or childish, but I have found that rich colours such as the ones I have used work well in India.

Floor and Wall Tiling Work StartedMonday, December 28th, 2009Tiling of all the floors, bathroom/toilet walls, kitchen and kitchen wash area has been started. I only managed to get a chance to take photos of the bathroom/toilet tiling work before I left, so that’s all you can see for now.

Separate Piping For Drinking Water Being InstalledSaturday, December 26th, 2009One interested buyer of the homes asked about how we accommodated the separate drinking water that the society gets, be it limited to a few hours a day. After asking a few people about this, which I was not aware of at all, I was advised that in the future all homes should have a regular supply of drinking water and hence piping for it should be installed.

Resolving Rights and MoralsSunday, December 20th, 2009A family in the UK wanted my help in resolving a property ownership and rights issue in India after having issues with someone who jointly owns the property in India.

450 Trees Planted (with a success rate of 99.33%).Saturday, December 19th, 2009After the water channels were dug by the JCB, we [my team and about 8 labourers] planted 450 trees mostly around the perimeter wall of the farm. We were kindly shown by the seller of the trees how to plant them and we were advised that we would know if the trees had taken to the new soil within a few days, as otherwise they would start drying out.

Plastering Work Almost CompleteSaturday, December 12th, 2009I’ve been looking over the plastering work on the Nidhi Park homes and getting soem of the plastering to a level that I am happy with. Most of the interiors have been completed and the front of the homes remain to be done. Tiling the floors and some of the kitchens and�bathrooms/toilets will be the next stage.

The JCB Is Back – This Time Making Water Channels For FarmingWednesday, December 2nd, 2009I hired a JCB again. This time to make water channels mainly around the perimeter for the farm and some other perimeter areas to create water channels. The well in the corner will provide water to the whole farm using the channels, so we needed to make sure that the channels were dug at the correct levels for the water to reach the opposite part of the farm to where the well is.
