It’s been about a year since we last went over to The HoBB, but still the journey is beautiful, the people are wonderful and the location is getting better and better.

Thank you to Grant & Helen and I wish The HoBB forever.

Grant’s solution was to copy and paste the appropriate content into local documents which was a very time consuming process.

I created an offline spidering project which followed all the links from the home page of the respective sites that downloaded the entire content of the sites as offline files which can be browsed totally offline using a browser.

One of the sites was about 700Mb in size with over 16,000 pages. Can you imagine how long it would have taken to find. copy and paste the content?

The computer did it in about 6 hours. I think manually it could have taken weeks if not months.

Hi Bharat …. Does this mean you found a ‘number crunching’ way to grab everything? I hope you are not doing it the way you suggested I do it – it will take you an age!!

This time around I installed some latest anti wares to help protect the computers, helped reover some “sort of” backed-up Outlook Express email messages from Windows 98, and gave Grant a quick but intense session on how to create and manage Bezier curves.

After continuing with Bezier curves via email after we returned, Grant replied with “All thanks for handling bezier’s handles so well – and many others, of course“.

I produced an animated email signature for Grant many months ago and he was yesterday asked about it by a friend and Grants words were…

“Animated signature? Did it wink again! It sometimes does that  when it arrives in a new inbox. I think it’s great too. It was produced by a very talented guy, Bharat, who does the most magical (and fab) things with everything online and digital. I’ll cc this to him so you have his contact addy – he’ll be very happy to know you like it.”

They simply enter their article and if they want, upload and position a picture. They assign a category for their articles and click on a publish button and the whole site updates itself: links, pictures, pages, search engine, search engine registration and probably a few more things which I can’t remember.

It needs a bit of tweaking here and there and a few pages of content need to be added and linked to, but after that my friends will be able to keep adding new articles as and when they want without my involvement.
